An acoustic guitar strums a dramatic cadence that should inspire feet to tap, but the moonlit night's solemnity stills them. Nothing but the crackling of the campfire can break the silence of the remote desert’s vast expanse under endless skies. With reverent expectation, the listener waits for the story to begin.

Then a deep voice joins the timbre of the instrument like the low rumbling echo of thunder accompanies the staccato a monsoon’s rain. Listen carefully and you can hear the music as the bard begins his tale.

I can understand why you may feel the way you do. Life is hard often and humans psychologically tend to have a negative bias. It is easy to loose sight of the good in the world. To see only the evil in humanity and miss it’s humanities equal capacity for goodness. None the less it is their, but one must be open to perceiving it. You say that empathize with others by seeing the evil in all of us but if that is all you perceive than you are own partly empathizing. Too fully empathize you must see both the good and the bad in people. As a great youtube channel the school of life says, when someone harms you often you must look for the pin because most often those who act out do so because of some inner torment. I’m not saying you should let them abuse you or others but it helps for one to know that most often their behavior has little to do with you and that using their tactics in retribution only diminishes yourself.

Also the true burden of empathy and loving your fellow humans is doing so when they do not return the favor but doing so anyway. People who commit terrible crimes do not have empathy and dehumanize others. What does reducing yourself to their level prove exactly? I would even caution that taking such a extremely dim view of humanity in a way justifies such cruel behavior. If everyone one is inherently incapable of goodness then evil behavior is justified.

Striving to meet your fellow humans with empathy is bloody hard. It’s a sacrifice and is the hard road to take. However it would be ignorant to suggest such a approach is weak. The ideas of love for your fellow humans no matter what are enduring and have been around for eons. It’s a powerful and enduring message to say the least. And though often over shadowed by messages of violence is one that is equally if not more powerful over the scope of history. Though trapped in our own time and perspective it can be hard to see (and because progress is often a bunny hop at times) but in a lot of ways humanity over all has made progress in a lot of ways (if you look at the big picture.) That and movements based on nonviolence have created real change. Such tactics are powerful if done correctly.

Additionally one must be open to the existence of their own flaws, ones own biases, the fact of the relativity of our own perception, and the deep flaws in our own perceptions.

But....I am still also kind of confused on how we’ve got from the original posters reasonable desire to discourage the tendency of tumblr to harshly to judge other bloggers for a single mistake or people in general for saying something stupid.....to talking about terrible crimes and killing the guilty. People say stupid or are ignorant sometimes. All the things you describe in your second paragraph? See the ironic thing is that the other side tends to approach their views with the same attitude. What does that get us? At best a room full of people arguing mean-ness, no progress at all or pointless bickering on the internet; at worse you get genocide, tyranny and ignorance. If your not careful things can get repressive no matter the view. Society is better if people are able speak as freely as possible. Then at least the issues are capable of being addressed. That and I am pretty resistant of anyone telling what to think or believe so no matter the type of authoritarian I would reject said authoritarian on sheer principle and horror at the concept. However free speech means dealing with people who disagree with you.

Not only that but I could write books about the benefits of education. Teaching others isn’t easy and it should always be a two way street. And in terms of creating social change it takes subtly and patience. For example imagine culture and cultural dialog as a river. We once used to think that creating huge damns like the hoover damn was the best but now we’ve learned that causes much greater problems. The better solution is to use smaller structures to divert the flow. Or when it comes to getting people to behave as you wish to or to change their views often positive reinforcement works better. And negative reinforcement may get results but it has extremely negative consequences. If you seek to seek to change a person or people you fail by yelling and calling them evil etc. People tend to just shut that sort of thing out. The only ones who may listen are the very ones you don’t need to listen if truly want to create change. Not the mention a lot of people talk the talk while not walking the walking the walk.

So Basically if you want to create change in my view one should attack the issue and do from a point of firmness but with empathy as well. Use evidence, logic, emotional appeals and personal experience to sway. They spew hate address them as a patient non condescending teacher. Try to understand why they might feel the way they do and by doing so all the better to dismantle their arguments. Fact is overtime reason, evidence, love and empathy are stronger than hate. You may change their behavior by throwing a wasp nest at their head but in the long run cookies and kind words will be more effective. If that fails ignore them, agree to disagree. There will always be ignorant people in the world, some people just can’t understand. One should try to not harm others even when you feel like they deserve it. Sometimes the evil that humans are capable of can be infuriating but I honestly don’t think the murder, torture or bullying really helps. Especially if by doing so you become like the people you are against.

But...this is just my philosophy and view. I try to be positive. We clearly have different opinions and will probably just have to agree to disagree, which is ok. People are different and have different views.

Hey, Sorry if this seems out of the blue but I'm in search of some great fanfiction writers to help with some projects. You don't have to help or give the fandom a try of course though, and I'm not really expecting much because it'd kind of a lot to ask. I just thought it was worth a try though. Anyway, I'm really with frustrated with one of my fandoms lack of diversity, especially in terms of fanfiction. If your looking for something to get into or a new fandom to write for I'd really appreciate if maybe you'd check out Hetalia. It's a thriving fandom but there's a serious lack of great writers writing, especially for the more rare ships and topics. There's been a lot of sticking to the same ships/topics as of late and the fandom could really use some more mature talented writers. It really bugs me because one of the whole points of Hetalia is to make the world smaller and tackle interesting history but especially in terms of fanfiction, that's just not happening in some areas.

Hetalia in a nutshell:

Ok about Hetalia, Hetalia is first of all a web manga(comic) in kind of the style of like Garfield or Peanuts. This is part of why it's super easy to read and pick up because it's not like this huge long story. Hetalia is satirical comic about these beings that are personifications of nations (of the land and the people) and the governments their boss. It's a satirical series on history and culture so if you are easily offended you probably won't like it but if you have a sense of humor then you probably will like it. There is always some truth in the jokes and habits of characters. Also the writer really knows the history and different cultures.

There is an anime too. The dubbed version is more controversial because of all of the over the top accents, but is also really funny but the subbed version is great too. If your a history nut, into politics and different cultures/places then you'll probably love this series/fandom. Sometimes the jokes are about the countries in the present day even if the setting is during a different time period. The anime episodes are all only 5 minutes and a good amount of the subbed version is on youtube (put up by the company that owns them..you can watch them for free.) Part of what is super fun about hetalia (aph) is that it brings fans from all over the world together. Like for instance, there is something endearing when one finds that there are fans in other countries that ship your nation's character. The aph also makes the news much more amusing/interesting.

There are also a lot in fandom that takes aph and makes it more serious/dark (which is called dark Hetalia or historical Hetalia). Also sometimes even in canon it gets dark but the writer tends to enjoy the more funny side of history and when it does get more dark it is still generally in metaphorical form. Like a war = two of the characters beating each other up or so forth. Here's links to the manga.

Since Alfred is a republic each of his states has a personification of it’s own. Alfred’s states are a part physically but each state also has it’s own separate physical identity. Alfred and his states are connected with each other empathically/ telepathically. Alfred seems like a mother duck being trailed by loud grown up ducklings, or like herding cats.

Often his states are content to stay home and let Alfred handle things. Most often when they do decide to go abroad it is on some curious whim to “see the world” and not something work related. Some of his states are relatively well behaved most of the time, like Utah and honestly my state Iowa (who is cutely boring, except when it comes to farming) but other states are more problematic. Even the well-behaved states have there own quirks. Alfred is often torn between being a mother hen and joining in with the fun.

Bonus: for states having way to much fun with other countries and long distance telepathy/ empathy.

One Piece Headcannon: Punk Hazard and SanjiNami

Am I the only one that found it awesome how much ass Sanji kicked when he was in Nami’s body? In my opinion that was an epic feat how he just adjusted and managed to still be just about as effective. I think part of it may be the fact that he is a martial artist and is naturally in tune/ aware of his own physical state.

Second since Sanji, is the mother hen of the crew and like Chopper is responsible for crew’s health; he is always assessing his nakama’s condition. Due to this I imagine he knows there fighting styles and other things that would make being in the body switching scenario. It’s not really a creepy thing. It comes from his need to protect his nakama and not just the girls. No matter what he says, his actions tell a different story. For example if he had been in chopper’s body I don’t think he would of made the mistake Franky did.

This ability is also due to the fact that Sanji likes to collect information and is naturally observant. This is why observation haki is his speciality.

I also think the situation was pretty weird for Nami besides the obvious because Sanji in her body kind of reminds one of Bellemere.

I Want BatPirates - Comic Rec and Crossover Call

So I know my DC Comics/batfamily peoples have probably been wondering why I keep connecting, crossing, comparing and contrasting the anime /manga One Piece with DC Comics/Teen Titans/Batfamily so I thought I'd explain some of my reasoning here in list form.

1. I know that a lot of my fellow Batfamily/ Teen Titans people have not been happy or satisfied by what DC comics has been churning out as official cannon since the reboot and in some ways before the reboot as well. (The problems really just got worse not better because DC still fails to understand that they need to focus on telling great stories not making marketing gimmicks.)

This is why I purpose adding a little One Piece on the side; one consistently epic, most always enjoyable chapter a week has made waiting for DC Comics to get back to telling great hero stories a lot easier. Again I am advocating for an addition not a change or replacement. An expansion that would bring some new ideas and in so doing make both fandoms richer and stronger. Kind of like how adding a Chopper ( the little reindeer guy) to Law makes him so much cuter.

If you guys don't want to that's perfectly fine it's just some suggestions ideas I've had recently plus when I make a case for something I like to try to be persuasive.

2. Crossingover/ merging One Piece with the Batfamily/ Teen Titians works so well and is so much fun that once one even has a small understanding of both fandoms and thinks to cross them that first time; one can simply not stop doing so. It is simply too much fun.

I mean imagine Bruce Wayne in a world were the bad guys control the government at the very top. (The higher you go in the world government and marines you go the more corrupt and evil they get. At the same time some of the pirates are more like the exploring type ( Luffy and co. are basically chaotic good) and the regular evil type of pirate. Oh and you have some good marines but they are few and they not calling the shots. However the first thing that drove me crazy was how much Portgas D. Ace and Dick Grayson remind me of each other: they really seem like alternate universe versions of each other, past lives or something. I am also appreciating the synergy/ resonance of two sets of brothers in two universes. I'm sad no one else seems to get it.

Batfamily/Robin Brother’s fic prompts, fandoms talk, suggestions, advice etc. 1

1. The robin brothers all four in a jeep having to do a long road trip. This idea is inspired by the anime saiyuki. In Saiyuki they the show 4 equally if not more lively guys have to travel in a jeep from China to India. ( It’s based on the classic tale of the journey west.) A side idea from that if you know the anime Damian meets Sanzo.

2. Any survival kind of story is great here’s a few that I’ve seen be used in other fandoms that resulted in awesome fic. Particularly in one of the all time best fandom I’ve followed for fanfiction Stargate Sg1. Seriously their are tons and tons of NOVEL length fics that have been written by a good number of writers. Not only that but they are extremely well written. It was a fic readers heaven. Not only that, but the writers were talented and super super NICE!! Anyway…

3. Survival/ team work - The 4 robin brothers (or the 4 robin brothers and bruce) are stranded in the middle of nowhere. This could be off world or not. Furthermore each of the robin has some kind of handicap (in the sg1 fic one of the team members was blind, one could not speak, and the last could not move his arms. ) The handicaps were done by some kind of magic or potion or something because of them had offended a group of people/ it’s a test. In the original fic it was the character Teal’c that had to guide his team back to the village ( over dangerous terrain ) in a certain amount of time or the effect will be permanent. Teal’c had to do this because of in the past he had served the gould ( evil parasites that like to pretend they are gods, enslave, destroy etc.) He was forced to do this challenge to prove that he had changed/ could be trusted etc. This could be more about some one teaching Damian a lesson. This could be on earth or off earth etc. The person doing could be a villian all the way to the trying to help learn an important lesson dangerous kind of nice. After thinking about it, even if Bruce is included it should be Damian that has to guide them.

4. Any combination of batfamily, possibly the 4 robs, because fun, they are badly injured, could be stuck in some way or not in the middle of nowhere, (the original they had fallen into a sink hole) and something/ things mean, beastly, unreasonable, and hungry are intent on eating them.

5. Any combination of batfamily are captured by really stupid/ mean villians who have mistaken them for someone/someones else and they are determined to find out what they are planning!! Plus to add the fact that (now that I think about it the rob bros would work best.) won’t stop bantering with each other even under torture!!

Fandom Stuff and Such 1 1. I just read TT/YJ graduation day and I am struck by: A.) How lame Donna’s death was. B.) Did everyone forget about Omen at the end or what? C.) Robin as a leader and team seem regressed. D.) Nightwing is too hard on Tim. 2. They should make: A.) TV series based on the Nightwing comic. It would be PERFECT. B.) A Teen Titans Movie. C.) An Animated batman show or robin show starting from lonely place of dying. 3. I think they will eventually bring back the old DCU in some form. 4. I’m working on more Robin fanart ( another plushy ) but this one is a new type so it’s been taking me awhile. Would you guys like in progress shots or to wait till he’s finished?
